Charging Bull
The charging bull is a sculpture made by an italian artist called Arturo Di Modica. It was made of bronze and the cost to raise it up was $360000.
I found this sculpture amazing, when I saw it I became nervous because since I started my financial studies I wanted to be there. The big animal really represents power and aggressive because of its position, it seems like if the bull is about to attack.
The charging bull represents the power of the American Financial District, it was made a symbol of prosperity and optimism after the 1987 stock market crisis but In my opinion it is a symbol of the financial operation all over the world.
I think I have never seen any icon similar to the charging bull at my country, the most representative financial icon is the Mexican Stock Market built called Bolsa Mexicana de Valores.
Hi Michel
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the charging bull because I think it's a constant motivation to American people because remind one of the times that United States was in a difficult stage and the place where it was located is a good site to relate that crisis and the way that American finances takes fierce and strong now. How Aron tell us, this is not the original place where the charging bull was located initially but I think it was a better decision because, maybe now, it is a symbol for all the banks in Lower Manhattan.
