The National September 11 Memorial
The memorial represents a
symbol of memory for
the people who died in the terror attacks of September 11, the waterfalls are located
in the same place where the Twins Tower were stood. These waterfalls are the largest
manmade waterfalls in the North America. From my point of view, the names of
the dead persons which are written around waterfalls give them a special and
deep symbolism because they are an important reminder about the huge number of
persons who were there and also it is a recognition for those who lost their
life, meanwhile they were saving other ones.
I have
never seen big manmade waterfalls, so I was impressed by the size and the
design of the waterfalls. I think that the environment of the memorial lead us
to make a reflection about the tragedy and sensitizes us about the pain of all
the families that lost a member. When I was there I was realizing that built
waterfalls is a special symbol about the transition of life.
Even
Mexico City has had different tragic events as 1968 Massacre; we do not have a special area or built to remind the
loss of student’s life. However, I think it is really important to remind the
events that has changed the history of our Country in any way. The waterfalls will be there remind new and old generations an event that changed the history of a Country.
Ni Mera! I agree with you! I became amazed by the waterfalls design, also the names written around the pools and the flowers left by the people whose familiars have gone lead you to make a reflection and empathize with the tradegy.
